Erik Arbores - Galactic (Original Mix)
Growing up in an era that lives, breaths and moves to the beat of EDM, a natural-born affection for dance music fell upon Dutch producer
Erik van den Boom. But to love and to are two entirely different matters and the ability to do both isn’t for everyone. It is for the 14-year old
Erik released his very first E.P. at the age of 14, in the same month he started his studies at the University of Delft. He is what some like to call
‘a prodigy’, in both music production as well as the world of Applied Sciences. His ‘Take It’ E.P., released on Armada Music’s Zouk Recordings under
his Erik Arbores moniker, shot straight to number one on the Dutch iTunes chart, with the single ‘Bliss’ entering the Dutch Top 40 at number 20 in its
first week of release. The sky is the limit and the world smiles at this talented boy from Schiedam, The Netherlands.
At 4 years of age Erik started playing the piano, touching anything from the sonata of Mozart to 90’s pop music, as easy as 1-2-3. In the summer of
2008, when Erik completed 4 years of Gymnasium in 1, he started working with production software Fruity Loops Studio and implemented his piano play
into tracks of his own. Erik:”After I had started to play the piano, it didn’t take long for me to improvise on the piano pieces I had studied. I also
started playing pop songs, after hearing them on the radio. Since that was going so well, I quickly got into composing my own songs. After having
bought Fruity Loops, I started experimenting with electronic sounds and that got me into EDM, even though I still produce pop music as well. It is
this drive in dance music, the energy it contains, that appeals me so much.”
By experimenting and watching tutorials on the internet, the then 11-year old Erik taught himself how to produce with Fruity Loops Studio. He quickly
picked up the tricks and got comfortable with his own style – blending progressive, house, trance and even incorporating influences of pop, hip-hop, R
B and dubstep. To test his skills and find the right groove, Erik d a few unofficial remixes and soundtracks to movies. With his YouTube music videos
receiving up to a quarter of a million views, it was clear that he was doing something right. In 2010, he was one of the winners of the Filip
Vandueren Remix Challenge with track ‘Dolphins’ and became the runner up of the finals of the Vinylized competition.
But the real challenge for Erik was to produce his very own originals and that came together in the ‘Take It’ E.P., including tracks ‘Bliss’, ‘Take
It’ and ‘Transit’. Erik’s musical talent was discovered when Erik was invited to Dutch TV show ‘De Wereld Draait Door’, where he showed Dutch DJ Armin
van Buuren one of his tracks. Van Buuren, fellow-owner of Armada Music, was very impressed. Since then, the record deal offers started flooding in.
Erik decided to have his first record deal at Armada Music and the feedback from the ‘Take It’ release has been very positive. Jochen Miller, Kid
Massive,DJ Feel, The Thrillseekers, Guiseppe Ottaviani and Ali Wilson are only just a fewof the DJ’s supporting the package. One of the biggest US
radio stations, Sirius XM, played ‘Bliss’ multiple times.
For Erik Arbores, the story has only just started. Erik:”I’m busy already with many new tracks, prog house and also other styles, and I would love to
work with vocals on later tracks. I also hope to do official remixes. But you’ll definitely be hearing more from me!”
